The Whistler Winterhawks peewee 'A' squad starred in Squamish over the weekend.

The Winterhawks powered through a six-game gauntlet at the Squamish Minor Hockey Association's Thanksgiving Icebreaker tournament, ultimately coming out on top with a 4-3 shootout win over the Whitehorse Mustangs.

The host team, the Squamish Eagles, also medalled by earning the win in the third-place game.

The Sea to Sky U14 boys' rep soccer team headlined a Whistler Youth Soccer Association invasion of the Lower Mainland, capturing the Richmond FC Thanksgiving Tournament.

The U14s, comprised of players from Whistler and Pemberton, used a strong attacking game to put up an undefeated record and the tournament title.

The U13 boys' rep team, meanwhile, also made it to the podium using strong defence to earn silver in Richmond.

Not to be outdone over on the North Shore, the U14 Sea to Sky girls' rep team earned some hardware themselves, taking home third place in the silver category after posting a 2-1-1 record with only four goals against in the tournament with strong goalkeeping from Maggie Crompton and Jaden Richer while Jasmine Duncan paced the offence with three goals.

A pair of younger Whistler Avalanche teams also took to the field.

In North Vancouver, the U12 girls pulled off a pair of draws while earning compliments from across the pitch.

"They did well, with one of the opposing coaches making an effort to tell us our squad was the hardest playing and (displayed the) most sportsmanship of all the teams they have played against," coach William Trousdale wrote in an email.

"Each game was exciting to the end, with our squad pulling out a couple of draws. Good competition, good teamwork, and great fun."

Meanwhile, the U10 division brought two teams to the Wesburn Mini Gobbler Tournament with boys and girls teaming up in what was officially an all-boy tournament.

"Our U10 squads held their ground, demonstrating skill and exemplary sportsmanship in every match," coaches Caroline Bagnall and Geoff Telfer wrote in an email.
