After an inspection last Saturday, officials gave the go-ahead to mens teams to start their training for the downhill, which will take place on Nov. 27, and a super G scheduled for the following day.
All eyes will be on Mont Tremblants Erik Guay, who finished second in the Lake Louise downhill last year, then missed most of the season after a training injury a few weeks later. Jan Hudec of Banff is also a strong contender after landing in the top-15 last year.
The organizers are going all out this year with the events taking place as part of a larger Calgary Stampede Barn Burner festival, featuring a barbecue and live music.
