WMSC hosts Masters classes

If the Whistler Mountain Ski Club can put no fewer than six athletes on the Canadian Alpine Ski Team and development team in recent years, your crunched turns should be no problem.

The WMSC is once again hosting a Masters Team, with skills training, gate training, video sessions, and one on one consultations every Sunday with the club’s coaches. There will also be a Christmas camp this year, as well as some new dryland training on balance and timing to get you into shape on the slopes. You’ll also get to use the new timing systems and video systems to analyze your skills, and allow you to improve faster.

The opening weekend for the Masters Team is this Sunday, after more than 50 centimetres of snow convinced the group to get away from gate skiing and into the trees last weekend. Nobody complained.

Weather permitting, training will get underway this week with participants training for their own personal skills or events like the Kokanee Valley Race Series, the Over the Hill Downhill, and Peak to Valley Race. In addition, some racers will be taking part in the Canadian Masters Championship at Sun Peaks at the end of the season.

The program is coached by Marc Anderson, assisted by Peter Todd.
