The Canadian Alpine Ski Team is finally getting the support it needs.

Last week, Alpine Canada Alpin announced WonderBra as the Official Women’s Intimate Sport Apparel Supplier for CAST.

The 17 racers that make up CAST’s women’s team have been supplied with WonderBra’s newest line of sport apparel, which will also be sold to the general public.

Although the undergarments weren’t designed for racing – it’s still skin to win under race suits for elite alpine athletes – they will come in handy for other training.

WonderBra is also providing sponsorship directly to Gail Kelly, who will wear the company logo on her helmet this year.

"Canada’s women’s alpine athletes represent an important market for WonderBra – they’re young, they’re physically fit, and they are very active," said Marianne Cobb, marketing manager for WonderBra. "We’re proud to be working with such a distinguished group of athletes and look forward to implementing their feedback to ensure our sport apparel line is the best-suited for young, active women."

The WonderBra endorsement came just two days after Fairmont Hotels and Resorts signed on as a champion-level sponsor, providing $300,000 in financial support as well as the use of Fairmont hotel facilities for fundraisers, and events like the upcoming CIBC Lake Louise Winterstart World Cup and CIBC NorAm Cup. The sponsorship deal will run until 2005, when it will be reviewed.

CIBC has been with CAST for just over two weeks, Sponsoring Winterstart and the NorAm contests at Lake Louise. They also became the helmet sponsors for Allison Forsyth, Thomas Grandi, Erik Guay and Julien Cousineau.
