Canadian snowboard enthusiasts will get their fill of World Cup action this season, with CBC committing to cover European events as well as the events in Whistler and Mont-Ste-Anne.

"CBC is demonstrating a keen interest in our sport with this increase in coverage," said JS Bidal, manager of business operations and development for the Canadian Snowboard Federation.

"We’ve known this move would come soon and are very happy to see snowboarding become such an important property for the CBC’s coverage of Olympic sport.

"We are confident that this series of telecasts will increase the exposure of the sport in Canada and provide a great influx of interest into this already booming sport, specifically from a development standpoint."

Currently the CBC is planning to air a two-hour program on the World Cup in Whistler this January, a one-and-a-half hour program on the World Cup at Mont-Ste-Anne, and six one-and-a-half hour programs from World Cups around the world.

In addition, the CBC will include special two-day coverage from the 2003 FIS World Championships from Kreischberg, Austria.
