Imagine your artwork being in the hands of one of the world’s top snowboarders. Imagine your artwork also being beamed around the world on live television and captured in many industry magazines.
MASEV, the organizers of the annual Nokia Snowboard FIS World Cup taking place this December, are looking for a fresh, new design for the awards and trophies presented to the top three finishers in each event.
For the past seven years, athletes have been receiving beautiful soapstone carvings designed by former long-time Whistler resident, Chris Rose. This year, Masev would like to showcase a new local artist.
The trophy should represent snowboarding, Canada and Whistler and will be given as a keepsake to the winners from around the world.
Artists are asked to submit a single prototype of their award trophy design by Sunday, Aug. 31. The event team will then select the winner no later than Sept. 3.
The winner will then have almost three months and up to $100 per award to design the allocated number of trophies by Dec. 8, 2003. Masev extends this contest to all artists from the Sea to Sky corridor.
