Christmas cards created by kids Myrtle Philip elementary school's art program will get a much-needed funding boost when it sells packages of Christmas cards created by its students. Each greeting card package features art from 16 students. The packets sell for $12. There are 600 sets of cards to be sold. They are available at Marketplace stores, including the IGA Plus, and other locations throughout the village. Nothing is printed inside so card purchasers can maximize personal messages, or designate the card-sending occasion for any of the religious or festive holidays at this time of year. Whistler artist Isobel MacLaurin was called on to judge the winning artworks that would end up as card designs. Garibaldi Graphics and Whistler Printing either donated or discounted the cost to print the cards. Money raised will go to the school's art program. One idea is to fund visiting artists who would spend a week at the school offering a hands-on art experience for students.
