Rob Brown is 45, and has been writing every day for the last 30 years.
He is a full-time managing editor who is in his eighth year of creating and producing each edition of the Dawson Creek Mirror, Northern Horizon, and for the last couple years the Pipeline News North - and most recently the Alaska Highway News, and as well as alaskahighwaynews.ca
Prior to this Brown enjoyed a 17-year career as a news journalist and photographer across western Canada – picking up 25 or so awards for journalism, photography, layout/design, and more. This includes news story of the year awards in both Alberta and Manitoba, a pair of photography of the year awards, and back-to-back special edition awards for his work.
He is also a daily poet, actor, producer, director, composer, and more. Rob has directed seven plays he has written, (including but not limited to 'Revolver 101', 'Los Angeles 1983', 'PCP: Picketwire Community Park' as well as the 'Penny Cash Wedding' Colosseum, A Cold North Night), and produced and directed another 20 plus productions of other people’s work for the stage since 2004.
He appears with his daughter and Dawson Creek Mirror photographer Blake in the 2020 Huey Lewis + the News music video ‘I am There for You’.
For the last three years Brown has judged Ontario's newspaper of the year, and reporter of the year award categories.
He has 300 million printed bylines to his name including a million each in MB, SK, AB, and BC.
He is a 2005 Alberta Centennial Citizen of the Year award winner, 2017 Culture Ambassador for Northern BC, and 2019’s only Bronze Quill award winner in British Columbia for 20 plus years in journalism.
He has written/directed/produced a full length motion picture - Sukunka - before the eyes of film festival judges around the world in late 2022/23, and he has Peace Region Xposure - a talk/variety show filming now, and debuting on OptikTV in summer 2023.
His new film script 'Blind Dates' is now in pre production and shooting in 2023. In 2023 he was given the honour of completing the unfinished films of legendary Hollywood director Albert Pyun.
