Ten lawyers have represented Andrew Michael Bertam Rees, 54.

A B.C. man appeared in Vancouver provincial court May 10 on charges of forcible confinement and possessing an axe.

Court documents said Andrew Michael Bertam Rees, 54, forcibly confined three women in Vancouver on Aug. 22, 2021.

That same day, documents said, Rees had in his possession an axe for a purpose dangerous to the public peace for the purpose of committing an offence.

Rees also faces a third charge from that day: escaping from lawful custody.

There have been 41 appearances in court since the case began.

He has been represented by 10 lawyers.

Court documents show various bail releases with increases in conditions over time.

Rees must have no contact with the three women, report to a bail supervisor, have no adjournments longer than eight days, not possess weapons, not attend an East Vancouver A&W and provide any address change to a bail supervisor.

In December, his bail reporting condition was changed from Vancouver to Surrey.
