One witness says the driver may have been cut off by another driver before the crash on May 11, 2025.

A woman is in critical condition and three others are injured after a head-on crash near Mission on Mother’s Day.

Police do not believe impairment was a factor in the crash, and are still working to determine the cause.

Two vehicles collided on Lougheed Highway, east of 287 Street, before 9:30 a.m. on May 11.

Investigators believe the driver of a red 2002 Ford Focus hatchback lost control and entered the oncoming lanes, striking a grey Mazda head-on.

"One report indicates the red Ford may have been cut off by a grey van driving westbound on Lougheed Highway,” said Cpl. Harrison Mohr.

The passenger in the Ford was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Police say she is a 63-year-old woman from Mission.

The driver and passenger of the Mazda and the driver of the Ford were all transported to the hospital with various injuries.

Mission RCMP’s traffic services unit and the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service attended the crash. The eastbound lanes were closed through the day for the investigation and have since re-opened.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact Mission RCMP at 604-826-7161 and reference file number 25-5315.
