Richmond's racewalking Olympic medallist will be competing in his seventh World Championships this fall.
Evan Dunfee is one of eight Canadian athletes competing in the marathon, 10,000 metres and 35-kilometre race walk events in Tokyo for the 2025 World Athletics Championships from Sept. 13 to 21.
"This will be my seventh World Championship representing Canada, and the program continues to build towards one of the top athletics nations in the world," said Evan Dunfee to Athletics Canada.
"It’s really exciting to be heading back to Tokyo for another major championship."
More than 2,000 athletes from around 200 countries will be in Japan vying for the title of World Champion, including Dunfee.
Tokyo will be Dunfee's 41st national team in his racewalking career.
"I really (wish) Athletics kept track of international 'caps' as it would be really cool to see where I stack up," said Dunfee on social media.
"I feel like I must be close to having the most caps for Canada, which would be a very cool and meaningful accolade."

In 2023, Dunfee competed in the World Athletics Championship held in Budapest and placed fourth in both the men's 20- and 35-kilometre race walk events.
At that time, he also set a new Canadian record in the 20-kilometre event with a time of one hour, 18 minutes and three seconds.
“The group that we have selected today have a lot of experience. We're looking for them to perform at their very best, and be prepared to go after personal bests, season’s bests, top eight finishes and even the podium,” said Athletics Canada head coach Glenroy Gilbert.
“The athletes will have everything that they need by way of support. The team around them are there to provide an environment of high performance."
