An American commercial real estate company that specializes in owning and operating film and TV studios is buying Vancouver Film Studios and its related assets -- Pacific Backlot and Signal Systems.
Vancouver’s McLean Group of Companies announced Friday by news release that it is selling its film and TV studio assets to an affiliate of Hackman Capital Partners – a Los Angeles-based company specializing in commercial, industrial and studio properties.
Vancouver Film Studios has 13 sound stages and its affiliate, Pacific Backlot, serves the film and TV industry with lighting, grip and other production equipment.
The Deadpool, The Flash and Yellowjackets are among the productions that have used Vancouver Film Studios.
"Vancouver Film Studios has been a core company in our family business for 25 years and we are confident HCP will take what we have built to even greater heights,” said Jason McLean, CEO of the family owned business. “Their expertise in the film industry combined with our exceptional team make for an 'all-star cast.’”
The company did not disclose the value of the sale.
The company said Vancouver Film Studios will continue to operate as an independent film and television studio under the new owners.
"Within a burgeoning global production market, Vancouver Film Studios has a rare generational legacy, and we are thrilled to be its next steward," said Hackman founder and CEO Michael Hackman. "Not only is the facility purpose-built and state of the art, but we are inheriting a management team that is among the best in the business."
