It appears Carl's Jr. has left the city.
The American burger chain's Vancouver out post at 625 Howe St. has closed; it was the only location in the City of Vancouver.
Locations are still listed in Chilliwack, Surrey and at Vancouver International Airport on the Carl's Jr. Canada website (as is the shuttered Howe Street location). On Google the downtown Vancouver location is listed as permanently closed.
The fast food chain moved into Canada in 2011, opening its first location in Kelowna (which has since closed), and opened several locations across Metro Vancouver and B.C., including the Howe Street location in January 2013. By 2016 it had spread across Canada, but that year it closed its Toronto stores.
The Carl's Jr. Canada site currently lists 20 locations in the country, including the shuttered downtown Vancouver location. Most of the locations are in Alberta.
However, while Carl's Jr's signs are still up at 625 Howe St., a new business has already put up its signs as they move in.
Pho Quynh Express, a local Vietnamese and Cambodian chain, will be opening its fourth location in the former burger joint.
They currently have three other locations not far, in Yaletown and the Olympic Village; the first one opened in 2018 at 91 West 2nd Ave.
Signs for the new restaurant show it'll be open 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. seven days a week, offering soups, noodle dishes and more.
