Burnaby brothers coming to Whistler in search of Sasquatch

Another family from Burnaby is making their way to Whistler this week – in pursuit of the infamous Sasquatch.

The Kelly family’s adventures in Whistler will be "sneak peeked" on YTV Thursday, Dec. 9 at 7:30 p.m. The Kelly family is part of a new animated TV series called Being Ian, produced by Vancouver’s Studio B. The series, aimed at 9 to 12 year olds, will be launched on YTV In January, but a sneak preview episode about the family’s trip to Whistler will air today and Dec. 25 at 3 p.m.

The holiday episode, titled Sask-Watch, sees the Kellys visit Whistler, where Ian and his older brother Korey go in search of the Sasquatch while their mom discovers a spoon convention and their father tangles with a hungry beaver that thinks his skis are lunch.

The series is based around Ian Kelly, who has a vivid imagination, a fascination for films and a reputation for turning ordinary events into epic disasters.

"Sask-watch is a great episode," said Blair Peters, Partner, Studio B Productions. "We had a lot of fun playing off the legend and myth of this illusive local creature. One of the unique aspects of Being Ian is that it’s set in B.C. – this episode takes place in Whistler and the Kellys are from Burnaby."

Being Ian is designed by internationally acclaimed independent filmmaker Marv Newland, whose work includes Bambi Meets Godzilla. Studio B is an award-winning animation studio that has produced original series such as Yvon of the Yukon, What About Mimi? and D'Myna Leagues, which currently air in over 22 countries around the world.
