House music obsessive and resident DJ for Party Beats Thursdays at Tommy Africas.
These are the hot five tracks that are currently pushing their way to the front of my record box. Together they sum up the music that I love:
1. So Many Times Gadjo (Subliminal)
"My current favourite uplifting house track. Beautiful piano, soulful vocals and amazing Latino drums. The production is typical of this record label outstanding. Its impossible not to get up and dance to this!
2. Just The Way Full Intention (White Label)
"A parcel of aural pleasure. Produced by Michael Gray (of "The Weekend" fame), it has the same warm, funky bass and a feel-good factor that is off the scale. Pure sex on vinyl.
3. Everybody Movin Around Supersonic feat. Taka Boom (Rise)
A dirty, eighties-influenced track with vocals from the legendary Taka Boom. Everybody really starts moving around when this tune is played! A proper party track.
4. El Amor (mucho drums mix) Joeski and Chus (Maya)
A percussive, tribal house masterpiece which has been around for a while but never fails to get the dance floor jumping. Not too heavy on the drums just fabulous bongos in all the right places that make you feel like a Latin lothario on the dance floor. Yeah baby!
5. The Creeps Freaks (Gigolo)
Its all about the bass deep, punchy and filthy, with more grind than youd find at Starbucks. Its hard to do this track justice with words. Add in a big sound system and youre in heaven.
Last words:
"The music scene is awash with sexy, funky, feel good tunes not just the big hits that are played to death on the radio or MTV. Thanks to the interest and open-mindedness of the great club crowds here the DJs can champion some of the sounds that have become well established in the quality Whistler music scene. You make it happen and you can bet Im having as good a time as you guys, behind the decks! Cheers!
