Long-time Whistler restaurateur Joel Thibault is leaving Joels at Nicklaus North Golf Course to take over the space formerly occupied by Fogata in Village North.
Thibaults new Bavaria Restaurant will open in the next week or so and feature cuisine from the French, Swiss and Austrian Alps fondues, raclette, schnitzel and other alpine specialties will be prominent on the menu.
Thibault, who opened Joels at Nicklaus North in 1996, is leaving his name behind with the golf course restaurant, where managers say it will be business as usual.
"We wish Joel the best of luck with his new venture. His contribution to the restaurant, staff and guests was significant he will be missed," says Rod Cochrane, General Manager, Nicklaus North Golf Course. "Our Food & Beverage team is hard at work to ensure the consistent delivery of excellence that our guests expect. From the guests point of view, nothing has changed at Joels !"
Food Sense
March is National Nutrition Month, according to the Dietitians of Canada group, and the official theme is Make Sense of the Food You Eat.
Some of the questions dietitians will answer over the month include: Are sugar and starchy carbohydrates responsible for obesity and diabetes? Many say the soil is depleted of nutrients and that we need to take supplements are supplements necessary? Are high protein diets safe and effective? What are functional foods, and how can they benefit?
"Its a jungle out there a nutrition information jungle," says nutrition month manager Lise Smedmor. "With todays technology there is an unprecedented amount of information and it is hard to know how to believe and what to act upon."
According to a survey, the majority of Canadians are tired of getting conflicting messages about healthy diets.
