The newly formed Whistler Photographic Society will hold its first photography exhibition in the Gallery at Millennium Place from Sunday, March 10 to Tuesday, April 2.

The exhibition will feature the favourite photographs of several renowned local professional photographers including Eric Berger, Dano Pendygrasse, and Greg Griffith, among others. There will be a reception on Sunday, March 10 th from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. to open the show. Admission to the reception and the exhibition is free.

This idea behind the inaugural photography exhibition is to showcase the wealth and diversity of talent among Whistler’s top photographers. Each photographer will submit his or her two favourite photographs to the show. These pieces will not necessarily be the photographer’s most successful commercial work, but rather the images will be ones that have the most meaning to the photographer. As a result, this exhibition offers the public an opportunity to glimpse the individual behind the lens and gain an increased understanding of the work and its artistic merits. The photographic subjects will include action-sports, nature, architecture and mountain culture.

The Whistler Photographic Society is a registered non-profit organization of professional and amateur photographers. It was established with the mission of increasing the recognition of photography as a form of artistic expression while building a strong sense of community for Whistler-area photographers.
