The Crab Shack's successful lineup of live music is heading into its seventh year of operations. Co-owners Scott Young and Joe Kovacs have been shaking the Shack with a wide range of acts since the first oyster shell was shucked, and they show no signs of stopping.
The Shack's house band, the rockin’ and rollin’ WDC, still draw huge crowds every Sunday night. Punk rockers Exithiside, the Amazing Wil Mimnaugh and even nearly Neil Diamond are among the other regular faces in the oyster bar's extended family.
"It's an expensive endeavour keeping touring bands in the house but a cost we think benefits the whole community," said Young. "We're here for the locals first and foremost, giving them an avenue to catch inspiring and impressive acts. We're also here for the good guys in the music business, the ones we think have the right talent and attitude to go all the way to the top.
"What's interesting about our regular acts is that they have grown in popularity and toured the continent since playing with us, and through it all they've still stayed loyal. The locals respect that and pass on the word to our tourists, bringing a whole new audience for the performers every time they play."
