Roger Sanchez, Krafty Cuts, Mazi and Jay Tripwire all coming to Tommy’s
Bringing in New York-based DJ Roger Sanchez next weekend is breaking the recent Top 40 Saturday night tradition in a big, big way.
Internationally renowned from Ibiza to Iceland, Sanchez makes the intimate setting at Tommy’s his own for one night only next Saturday, April 10. Advance tickets are currently available at Tommy’s. The first 50 are going for $20 with the rest a cool $25.
And then if that ain’t enough, Tommy’s Soul Kitchen club night on Sunday, April 11 features U.K. super-DJ Krafty Kuts, a favourite son of the funky Finger Lickin’ records family. Breaks, breaks and more breaks with Finger Lickin’ in the Kitchen.
This Sunday, April 4, there will be two at the Kitchen tables. A special four by four set brings together Chicago-based chameleon producer DJ Mazi and Vancouver’s Jay Tripwire of Northern Lights label infamy, throwing down tech-house in tandem.

Almeida/Tennant headline the return of Naked City
Let it be known that Naked City refers to the skyscraper motif of the event’s alcohol sponsor and not to the Vancouver duo’s lack of performance attire. And let it be known the progressive tech-house music of Vancouver’s Ricardo Almeida and John Tennant is not spun or programmed but created live onstage, allowing for an the creation of seemingly incongruous organic electronica. The duo headlined the first Naked City event at Maxx Fish back in February. This time around they’re joined by DJs Little Jon and Milton with visuals by Kryptonite.
Tickets for the event are $10 available in advance from Bestsellers, $13 at the door. The Fish’s V.I.P. booths will be available for $80 - $160.

JnB Battle Royale pits Toronto man against local Alien
Garfinkel’s becomes the musical equivalent of a boxing ring this Tuesday, April 6.
And what a bout. In the West’s corner, Whistler/Vancouver local Mat the Alien. Scratchmaster extraordinaire, home court advantage, packing a punch with his bottomless crates of hip-hop and drum ’n’ bass.
And for the East, Toronto’s DJ Slip. Perhaps best known with tag team partner DJ Slide, he still packs a bassline punch when flying solo.
Will the Alien get the Slip? Will Slip send the Alien into orbit?
Watch the dueling DJs go at it at a special East vs West Jungle ’n’ Breaks night at Garfinkel’s.
And let’s get ready to rumble!
