: Tuesday, Sept. 30, 9 p.m.Wildman Wil Mimnaugh will once again be sending G-strings flying across the Crab Shack this Tuesday. But hes no oily-chested Chippendale, just a hard-workin, hard-rockin prairie boy who attacks an acoustic six-string like it had gone and stole his woman.
In fact, transplanted prairie folk may be slightly thrown off by all that "Mimnaugh" jazz. Out in Alberta, where he cut his chops and his fingers up playing sets of crowd-riling, rock-out tunes, hes just Wil. Hes like Cher. People love him so much; he doesnt need a last name. And by the time he finishes his enthusiastic solo sets, neither does anybody else in the place.
Maybe thats what happens when you start to make it outside the prairies. You sign with a Vancouver talent agency and they start booking you gigs up in Whistler. You go all "West Coast." You start to be Mr. Big Shot with a last name
Nah, who are we kidding? Theres not much you can count on in this crazy world, but you can count on the fact that whether he goes by Mimnaugh or Soprano, or Nahasapemapetilan, hell always be Wil. Hell always play that guitar straight from the heart and the balls, and when hes done, youll feel like you know him biblically.
Catch the marvelous Mr. Mimnaugh at the Crab Shack this Tuesday. The Crab Shack also features local solo acoustic artist Wes Makepeace every Wednesday.
