YOUTHfest staging six plays

Squamish Youth Theatre’s annual YOUTHfest presents six short plays at the Eagle Eye Theatre next Thursday, March 17 and Friday, March 18.

YOUTHfest (formerly KIDSfest) is a family event with a focus on developing young talent for the stage by casting new actors alongside more seasoned actors. More than 50 actors are taking part in this year’s event.

YOUTHfest 2005 is produced by Adriane Polo, a Squamish-based arts impresario and filmmaker whose recent credits include the Christmas musical production The Sound of Music and the Sea To Sky Film Festival. All six plays will be presented on both nights with live music in the interludes.

Plays on this year’s roster include:

The Right Knight for Rosie

– a tale of a funky princess and her not-so-typical suitor.

Katie’s Toy Chest

– about toys come to life .

Strawberry Daydreams

– a girl proves she is not as inconsequential as everyone thinks.

Spooks On Strike

– a tale about ghosts walking off the job.

Polly Pureheart Prevails

– a comedy about superheroes.

The Case of the Blue and Red Hats

– a mystery that tests Sherlock Holmes’s and Dr. Watson’s wits.
