If you can, it is likely best to stay clear of the Sea to Sky Highway stretch through Whistler tonight, and if you are in the traffic snarl, it could be a while before you are clear.

According to a DriveBC post, fire crews are reporting multiple incidents through the Whistler portion of Highway 99 as of 7:34 p.m.

"Expect major delays in both directions," the post says.

"Please give plow trucks room to work. They are having difficulty plowing and laying material due to heavy traffic."

Commenters have reported on the Sea to Sky Road Conditions Facebook page that the highway through Whistler is "chaos," and note it is icy.

It has been snowing off and on in Whistler and Squamish for the past several days.

Environment Canada is forecasting periods of snow ending late this evening, then clouds and a 40% chance of flurries for Whistler.

More flurries are expected for Saturday, bringing two to four more centimetres of snow.

Squamish can expect more wet flurries tonight and flurries mixed with rain showers on Saturday.
