Applications for the 2023 Pemberton and District Initiative Fund (PDIF) are now open for residents.

The goal of the PDIF, which was established in 2020, is to provide sustainable funding for local not-for-profit organizations in Pemberton and the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District's (SLRD) Area C, and to support economic development in the area.

The PDIF, which provides seed, long-term or one-time funding to applicants, is split into two funding streams. The first is for economic development-type programming, while the second is allocated for arts, culture and recreation funding.

“We are extremely proud of the work that has gone into developing this program, and in fostering the regional district’s relationship with the Village of Pemberton as we work, collectively, to support organizations and projects that benefit the residents of Pemberton, and the residents of Electoral Area C,” said SLRD Area C director, Russell Mack, in a press release. “We are pleased to be able to fund important projects and programs that benefit our communities, that have lasting impacts on our communities and that help make us stronger, together.”

The budget for the funding will be established annually by the Pemberton Valley Utility and Services Committee (PVUS) and will be approved by the SLRD board of directors and the Village of Pemberton council.

From 2020 to 2022, the PDIF has provided local community groups and organizations with more than $300,000.

Applications for funding must be in by Oct. 15, 2022 at 4 p.m.

More information on the funding and how to apply can be found at slrd.bc.ca.
