A local plumbing company is proving excellence runs deep—on both sides of the border.

Whistler-based Lee Carter Plumbing (LCP) was named Best Plumbing Contractor of the Year by the North American Business Prestige Awards April 18, with the honour announced at a formal ceremony held at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. It’s the second year in a row they’ve taken home hardware.

“It was unexpected, but we’re very proud of it,” said owner Lee Carter. “I think we got shortlisted after winning Best of Whistler, and then they contacted us along with a load of other companies. We ended up winning.”

Carter attended the awards with LCP members Ryan Matley, Liz Berkley, and Marcus Blake. The weekend included a video interview, photos, and a chance to mingle with some of North America’s leading contractors and explore Sin City.

“It was a surprise. We spent the weekend in Vegas and got to enjoy the event,” Carter said.

The Prestige Awards celebrate small and medium-sized businesses that offer outstanding products and services to residents and tourists alike. With a focus on service-driven excellence, innovation, and community impact, the awards aim to spotlight local businesses that reflect the character and strength of their region. Finalists are selected through a combination of reader nominations and extensive research by the Prestige team, with judging based on service quality, value, sustainability, and consistency.

Carter said they plan to share the news with customers soon and hopes the recognition highlights the level of talent coming out of the Sea to Sky region.

“It shows we have high standards,” he said.

LCP has several major projects underway, including a luxury build for RDC Fine Homes.

Asked what advice he’d give to other local businesses looking to earn similar recognition, Carter kept it simple: “Keep going. Don’t stop. Keep moving forward.”
