The new facility will feature a kitchen, public washrooms and viewing decks.

Den Duyf Park, the “recreational hub” of the Pemberton Valley, has a brand new feature: the Rotary Amenity Building.

According to a release from the Village of Pemberton, the multi-purpose space is designed for a range of community, recreational and wellness activities, year-round. It features a standard kitchen for food service, accessible public washrooms and showers, a covered outdoor deck and a rooftop viewing patio that “offers a unique vantage point of the park and surrounding landscape.”

“Investing in infrastructure like this ensures our residents have access to welcoming, inclusive spaces for everything from meetings and events to fitness and family activities,” said Pemberton Mayor Mike Richman in the release.

“The Rotary Amenity Building strengthens our community connections and supports the kind of active, engaged lifestyle that defines Pemberton.”

This project is part of a larger $4.2-million investment in Den Duyf Park infrastructure, which included a second soccer field. These projects are funded by the Canadian government, province of B.C. and local partners including the Den Duyf family—who donated the space in 2017—the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District, Whistler Blackcomb Foundation, The Ridge at Pemberton, Sunstone Pemberton and, of course, the Rotary Club of Pemberton.

“The Rotary Club of Pemberton recognizes the value that recreation provides to the well-being and benefit of all," said the Rotary Club, in the release. "We are honoured to be able to collaborate with the Village of Pemberton and many other amazing groups to give back to the community and assist with this wonderful facility."

Added Richman: “It’s fitting that the facility bears a name that reflects the ongoing contributions of the Rotary Club of Pemberton; a community partner whose support continues to enhance a wide range of local initiatives."

The Village is hosting a grand opening of the amenity building on Monday, June 16 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. onsite at Den Duyf. They invite community members to “tour the new building, enjoy light refreshments and take part in a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony.”
