Police are looking for the driver who fatally struck a woman Thursday night on the Trans-Canada Highway in Duncan, then left the scene.
North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP said the hit and run happened about 9:50 p.m. on the highway at Beverly Street.
Emergency crews arrived to find a woman dead at the scene. The woman who died had not yet been identified as of Friday morning.
The B.C. Coroners Service attended and the highway was closed for several hours while police gathered evidence.
Northbound traffic was detoured at Beverly Avenue and southbound traffic was detoured at Green Street.
Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the driver and vehicle involved.
They’re also asking motorists with dashcam video who were in the area from 9 to 9:45 p.m. on Thursday to check their footage.
