On the heels of Whistler’s first real dump of snow overnight, Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for the resort, warning of rapidly changing conditions on Highway 99.

Issued early Friday morning, Dec. 1, the federal agency says an “intense frontal trough will bring snow to inland areas of the south coast tonight,” with snow expected to develop early this evening before “becoming heavy” overnight.

Rapidly accumulating snow “will make travel difficult,” the alert continued, and visibility “may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.”

The forecaster advises motorists to prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating conditions.

Conditions are expected to improve Saturday morning as the weather system exits the region.
