Update: Two taken to hospital after multi-vehicle crash near Whistler this afternoon

Crash occurred 10 kilometres north of Whistler, closing the Sea to Sky Highway for a time.

The multi-vehicle crash took place between Heliport Road and Riverside Drive and closed the highway in both directions for a time.

BC Emergency Health Services says it received a call at 1:30 p.m. today about the multi-vehicle crash at Highway 99 and Wedge Creek Forest Service Road, near Whistler.

Two ground ambulances and one air ambulance were dispatched. Paramedics cared for and transported two patients to hospital.

The highway is fully reopened now.

Highway 99 north of Whistler is fully open again, following a multi-vehicle crash this afternoon. Drivers should continue to expect delays for some time this evening.

DriveBC says Highway 99 is now seeing single-lane alternating traffic north of Whistler after a serious crash earlier this afternoon.

The multi-vehicle crash took place between Heliport Road and Riverside Drive and closed the highway in both directions for a time.

Drivers should still expect major delays. Please watch for traffic control.

If you were thinking of travelling the Sea to Sky Highway beyond Whistler Saturday afternoon, maybe wait. 

Currently, at 2:35 p.m. on May 25th, the highway is closed in both directions, approximately 10 kilometres north of Whistler near Heliport Road, due to a multi-vehicle incident, according to DriveBC

Emergency crews are on the scene, according to the post on X.  

There's no word when the highway might reopen.

Squamish News Buff on X, a Squamish local who monitors scanner traffic, posted that a BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) air ambulance has been dispatched.
