It's perhaps one of the busiest weekends on the schedule—the dual long weekend of both B.C.'s Family Day and the U.S. Presidents' Day—and Whistler Blackcomb says it is expecting good conditions all weekend long.

But the mountain operator also issued a safety message for guests on Friday, Feb. 17.

"We're expecting a busy weekend here in Whistler with both BC Family Day and President’s Day falling on Monday, Feb 20. While we’re stoked to welcome guests on the mountain, we also want to share some safety reminders flagged by our Patrol team," WB wrote in a social media post on Friday.

"1.) As a reminder, patrollers pulling toboggans need to be given an extra wide berth to ensure the safety of themselves, their patient, and the guest skiing by. We’ve been seeing an uptick in close calls as of late and want to remind folks to navigate runs safely by adhering to slow signs, controlling their speed, and giving those ahead of them the right-of-way. Our mountain is not a highway!

"2.) Our teams have also noticed guests behaving in an unsafe manner when accessing Spanky’s Ladder off Glacier Express. It goes without saying that straight-lining from the top of GE to bypass those waiting in line is unacceptable and causes a large safety concern - not to mention it's just a very uncool thing to do. Our teams are asking guests to please use common sense by utilizing the lineup and respecting other guests."
