The Whistler Public Library is calling on local youth to step into a leadership role as the organization’s first-ever Youth Ambassador Trustee.

The new non-voting position is open to Whistler residents or high-school students and will run from September 2025 to June 2026. The goal is to bring a youth perspective to library governance while offering the successful applicant a chance to gain hands-on leadership experience.

Applications are due June 30.

The youth trustee will participate in monthly board meetings, which typically take place on the first Wednesday of each month at 5 p.m., either virtually or in person. The board oversees key governance areas such as strategic direction, library policies, and community engagement.

The successful applicant will be expected to prepare for meetings by reading the agenda and board package in advance and to participate in library events throughout the year. References and a completed application form are required as part of the process.

Applicants must be Whistler residents, but some exceptions can apply. The Youth Ambassador Trustee will serve alongside the current board.

More information, including the application form and detailed role description, is available on the Whistler Public Library website.
