Whistler police remain on the lookout for the occupants of an unregistered vehicle that fled a traffic stop yesterday, the RCMP confirmed.

At about 3 p.m. on Thursday, May 6, a Whistler RCMP member attempted to pull over a blue GMC Terrain on Main Street, just east of Northlands Boulevard. The vehicle, which had a Saskatchewan plate 69-IMDU, was pulled over to check for insurance and a valid driver’s licence as “police queries came back with no vehicle or driver information on file,” according to a statement sent to Pique.

After pulling the SUV over, police said the driver fled “at a high rate of speed” and was last seen turning left from Northlands onto Village Gate Boulevard. Despite setting up a perimeter, Mounties were unable to track down the vehicle. Several reports on social media noted police set up at multiple intersections north of the village, as well as cop cruisers spotted in the Nesters area with spike strips ready to deploy.

The vehicle’s three occupants are described as heavyset males, apparently Caucasian, in their late twenties, with short hair.

Police continue to investigate.
