The Canada Ski Cross Team hosted its national championships at Canada Olympic Park in Calgary last weekend, with Squamish's Aleisha Cline finishing first on both days of competition.
Whistler's Marielle Thompson, a member of the B.C. Team hosted out of the Whistler Mountain Ski Club, surprised national team skier Danielle Poleschuk on both days of competition by taking the silver medal. Also on Saturday, Whistler Catriona Blair placed fifth.
On the men's side the national team stepped aside and let the up and coming racers enjoy the course. WMSC skier Stan Rey took the win on both days, followed on the first day by Sven Winter of Vancouver and Ian Deans of Kelowna, and on day two by David Holmes of Toronto and Rob Lepine of Edmonton. Brian Bennett was fifth on the first day and fourth on the second, while Nick Geddes of Whistler was seventh on day one.
Cline and Rey each won $1,500 for their efforts, and Marielle Thompson came home with $500.
