Golf and dinner package raises money for elite athletes

On Sept. 29, the Chateau Whistler Golf Club and La Rúa Restaurante are pitching in to help some of Canada’s top freestyle skiers raise money for training camps and travel expenses for the upcoming World Cup season.

Aerialists Veronica Brenner and Diedra Dionne will be on hand to sign autographs and show off their Olympic medals. Scott Bellavance, sixth in men’s moguls, and Kelly Ringstad, a finalist in women’s moguls and the 2002 national champion, will also be on hand.

The day begins with an 11 a.m. shotgun start, and the format is a 4-person best ball scramble. After the tournament and awards are wrapped up, participants will receive a dinner at Whistler’s La Rúa Restaurante with a silent auction.

The cost is $800 for each foursome, which includes green fees, cart rental, dinner and draw prizes. Registration is limited, so sign up soon.

You can register at the Canadian Freestyle Ski Association Web site at www.freestyleski.com , or by calling Anita Coté in Whistler at 604-902-2683.
