The International Freesports Film Festival (iF3) returns October 18 to 21 in Whistler for its 16th year. Over 35 movie projects will be screened in venues across town, such as the Maury Young Arts Centre and Squamish-Lil'wat Cultural Centre. The event returns to a full in-person schedule of films, parties and awards.

A number of world premieres are on deck, while fans can also meet athletes and filmmakers at the iF3 Movie Awards Gala.

iF3 is recognized as a landmark event in international snowsports, having become the proving ground for freeski and snowboard filmmakers and athletes. Up-and-comers and pros alike will have chance to broadcast their talents to the action sports world.

“The coolest part of the festival is to give the up-and-coming kids exposure and industry recognition,” said Jeff Schmuck, head ski judge for iF3, in a press release. “The amateur category has served as a proverbial stepping stone for athletes since the start of iF3."

With so much talent in this year’s festival, iF3 President Luc Skypowder notes: “It’s a tough year for our judging panel. There are so many great movie projects registered. I don't want to be in that room when they begin debating.”

Official award nominations will be announced on October 11.

Tickets and the complete film program schedule are available on the iF3 website
