Chalk up another successful rendition of the Westside Wheel Up.
Lesley Clements managed to defend her ladies' title, outperforming runner-up Robin O'Neil and third-placer Evelyn Dewerts in a challenging Sunday on the bike.
Top man Ethan Wood also went home with gold. Dave Burch found enough speed for silver, and bronze landed in the hands of Michael Faccio.
Josie Cooper and Reed Murray emerged on top of the girls' and boys' junior podiums respectively.
Event organizers Jerome David and Benoit Reneault wish to thank their title sponsors: Whistler Brewing, Sabre Rentals, Nesters Market, AlpX Biking and Comor Sports. They also shouted out various other sponsors like Arbutus Routes, Chromag Bikes, Coastal Culture, Coast Optics, Cross Country Connection, Evolution Whistler, Fanatyk Co., Fineline Bike Shop, Ride Wrap, Ryders Eyewear and Surefoot.
All proceeds from the Wheel Up are going to the Whistler Adaptive Sports Program (WASP).
"A big thank you to Shelley Milstein for coming to the event and helping out, and Phil Chew for the wise words," said David in an email to Pique Newsmagazine. "Thank you to the Whistler Fire Department, Dave Eaton and Rob Boyle for helping manage the road crossing. Great job to all the racers to complete this 18-kilometre, gruelling, technical course. See you next year."
