Local athletes in half iron

Three Whistler athletes took part in the Prestige Half Iron in Cranbrook last Sunday, the last half iron event on the calendar before the Ironman Canada event on Aug. 29.

The race included a 1.9 km swim, a 90 km bike and a 21.1 km run.

Paul Suter finished the race 13 th overall and first in the men’s 40 to 44 category with a time of four hours, 55 minutes and five seconds.

Christine Suter was 39 th overall and third in the women’s 35 to 39 race with her time of 5:24:56.

Brandi Higgins was 87 th overall in 6:18:29, and eighth in the 30 to 34 age group.

Eight Whistler athletes are currently signed up for Ironman Canada:John and Grace Blok, Murray Coates, Christine Cogger, Ian Goard, Greg Sandkuhl, Tony Theriault and Marla Zucht.
