Three Sea to Sky rugby players are headed to Las Vegas.

Blake Mahovic, Josh Michalik and Gus Murphy were among the 18 men named to represent Canada on March 1 for an international exhibition game against the USA Hawks.

Mahovic and Michalik have seen this spotlight before. They are two of 10 players returning from the Wolverines' 22-10 triumph over their American rivals which took place November 2022 in Tampa, Fla.

Murphy and four others will be making their national team debuts.

“We are very excited about being part of such a historic event, particularly when it allows us to continue our great rivalry with the USA Hawks. We have selected a strong squad, with the players earning their spot through their club form and their performances in the East versus West game during our first Wolverines training camp last July in Vancouver," said Canadian head coach Aaron Zimmerle in a press release.

“With world ranking points on offer...the game presents us with a great opportunity to improve our ranking while refining our style of play. We look forward to showcasing our program and our players while helping to develop and grow rugby league in Canada and the USA.”

One day after the Wolverines and Hawks clash, the National Rugby League (NRL) will put on a season-opening doubleheader in Allegiant Stadium, the home of the NFL's Las Vegas Raiders.
