Sea to Sky biathletes win six medals at BC Winter Games

Taje Hansen, Aiden Firth, Lily McGowan and Brydon Irvine Harris all reached the podium in Vernon

Sea to Sky biathlon athletes represented themselves well this past weekend, earning a total of six medals at the BC Winter Games.

Taje Hansen and Aiden Firth each won two medals in individual events, in addition to joining forces for a pair of relay breakthroughs. Lily McGowan and Brydon Irvine Harris got to stand on the podium too.

Hansen was the most decorated of the bunch, winning gold in pursuit and silver in sprint. He was also a critical part of the boys' relay team and the mixed relay unit, both of which emerged victorious.

Firth secured two bronze medals in pursuit and sprint, and likewise was a mainstay on both relays.

On the girls' side, McGowan managed a respectable fifth-place result in the pursuit and wound up 11th in sprint. McGowan and Harris did score gold medals in the mixed relay, helping Hansen and Firth to prevail over the field.

The final member of the Sea to Sky contingent was Keenan Griffiths. He just missed out on a sprint medal, crossing the line in fourth as teammate Firth edged him out. Griffiths was close again in sprint, where he found himself in sixth.

Earlier in March, Hansen also raced at the IBU North American and Canadian Championships in Valcartier, Quebec. There he pulled off four top-25 finishes including 11th in the single mixed relay with Sierra Munroe.
