A number of Whistler and Squamish-based riders are taking part in 2023's edition of the 12 Hours of Glenridge.

The 12 Hours of Glenridge mountain bike race is back. This time, Whistlerites and Squamolians are joining the party.

Set to take place on Saturday, June 17 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., this event is located in Glen Valley near Abbotsford and offers a multi-lap course designed specifically for modern cross-country Olympic (XCO) racing. Forested single-track climbs lead to fast, flowing descents, creating a distinct experience for riders of all skill levels.

"We are thrilled to welcome the extraordinary riders from Whistler, B.C. to this year's 12 Hours of Glenridge mountain biking event," said event director Mike Rauch in a press release. "Their presence adds an exciting dynamic to the race. Whistler has long been a breeding ground for top-tier talent, and we are eager to witness their skills and determination on display."

The 12 Hours of Glenridge caters to participants of all leanings. Plenty of solo riders are in the mix, while teams of two, four, five or more can compete in the relay format. With one athlete per team on the course at a time, competitors can rest, refuel, and relax while their teammates are on course before heading out to tackle another lap. Teams can plan out their race order and the number of laps per rider, with top units aiming to complete laps in under 30 minutes.

With free on-site camping, a beer garden, and a full-on pig roast, the 12 Hours of Glenridge is billed as family-friendly. The race features various categories, including corporate, co-ed and youth to accommodate various demographics.

The event is Cycling BC sanctioned, and there is a cap of 300 participants. To register and find more information about the event, visit its website.
