The Stevie Smith Memorial Canada Cup was held on Aug. 31 at Mount Washington Alpine Resort on Vancouver Island, and it represented the finale of an excellent campaign for several local downhillers.

By winning in a time of three minutes and 21.47 seconds, Sebastien Harrisson clinched top honours in both the Canada and BC Cup aggregate for U17 expert boys. Evan McMath (3:26.08) pipped Travis Goller (3:26.92) at the line for runner-up position.

"Happy to end the season with P1...with a couple mistakes in my run," Harrisson remarked on social media. "Also very happy to take the overall! Congrats to all the riders."

Arleigh Kemp (3:48.29) grabbed gold in both the U17 girls event and the BC Cup overall, but it was silver medallist Ruby Wells (3:52.45) who prevailed in the season-long Canada Cup ranking. Cami Bragg went home with bronze (4:15.54).

"Very happy to win the Stevie Smith Memorial race this weekend at Mount Washington and get the fastest women’s time of the day!" said Kemp on her Instagram account. "Great way to wrap up the BC/Canada Cup series! Stoked to get first in the BC Cup overall and second in the Canada Cup overall."

Pembertonian boys cleaned house in the U15 expert contest, with victor Mack Manietta (3:15.93) securing his own BC Cup aggregate title despite being ineligible for Canada Cup points. Xavier Harrisson finished second (3:26.30) and Kyan Macleod (3:40.63) was third.

Manietta said: "Super happy with how I’ve been riding recently and hyped to race [the US Open] next month!"
