Locals didnt come away with any trophies at the Slo-Pitch National Championships, but showed they could compete with the best in Canada. The womens team beat a team from Regina, Saskatchewan, and lost to three teams, all by one run.
"We watched the finals and I think we could have been competitive with any of the teams in there. A few good bounces here and there, and we could have been in it," says womens team coach Glen Howe.
The mens team had more success and made the playoffs on Sunday, where they were eliminated in the first round.
The women were competing in the national "C" division championships, while the men were competing in "D". A total of 66 teams, 24 womens teams and 42 mens teams, were in Whistler to compete.
