Organizers of the sixth annual Spud Valley 7 kilometre Run/Walk are inviting people to celebrate Canada day by covering a small part of it on foot.

Organizers of the sixth annual Spud Valley 7 kilometre Run/Walk are inviting people to celebrate Canada day by covering a small part of it on foot.

The Spud Valley event is part of Pemberton’s Canada Day celebrations, and attracts more than 70 runners every year. Not just locals, either, but runners from as far away as White Rock, California and Germany.

Over the years the event has earned a reputation as a fun, casual run with the best prizes and apres food and drink.

The race starts and finishes at the Pemberton Community Centre, located 3 km from downtown Pemberton.

Race registration starts at 8 a.m. and the run starts at 8:30 a.m., and the cost is $14. All the proceeds from the race will be donated to the Pemberton Youth Soccer League and the St. David’s United Church. Local businesses are providing food and beverages for the race.
