This week on track at the Whistler Sliding Centre

Guests can try out passenger bobsled and youth luge sessions, while young lugers prepare to race the BC Cup on Saturday

2023 is upon us, and there is plenty to do at the Whistler Sliding Centre.

Passenger bobsled sessions are running through Sunday, where members of the public can experience speeds of 125 km/h and 4 g-forces of acceleration as they hurtle down an Olympic track, driven by a trained pilot.

Meanwhile, kids aged 8 to 14 who want to try their hand at luge can sign up for a Discover Luge session on Sunday, Jan. 8 at 11 a.m. This two-hour activity will introduce youth to the sport of luge and its equipment.

The next generation of bobsled athletes trains until Sunday to learn the basics of driving their own sleds in a multi-day Bobsleigh Foundation School.

Young local lugers are also training in preparation for their Luge BC Cup race on Saturday, Jan. 7 at 6:15 p.m. Spectating is free.
