Young gymnasts line up at the Whistler Gymnastics Club's 2023 Summer Classic.

Over 350 athletes and their families took part in the Whistler Gymnastics Club's Summer Classic from June 16 to 18: an event that was expanded from two to three days this year. Several competitors came away with hardware in a successful meet for the home team.

In the Xcel Platinum category, Sienna Osborn earned a gold medal on vault and a bronze medal on beam for third in the all-around. Kirra Douglas took gold on floor and silver on beam for fifth place in all-around. Ocean Anderson took the silver medal on floor and came seventh all-around. Ruby McLatchie narrowly missed the podium and wound up fourth in bars, fifth on vault, sixth on floor and 11th in beam (eighth overall).

Juno Buhler headlined Xcel Gold with her all-around victory, including first on floor and vault and second in bars and beam. Kai Kwok settled for a runner-up finish in the all-around after a tremendous performance in her own right: gold on bars, silver on floor and bronze on vault and beam.

In an older age bracket, Parker Watts claimed all-around silver by placing first on beam, third in vault and fourth in bars and floor. Alexa Maxwell prevailed on floor en route to fifth overall.

Meanwhile, Dylan Eady was the most decorated Xcel Silver athlete with three wins and a second-place for first in all-around. Ula Morrissey prevailed on vault and beam, then finished fifth in bars and floor to solidify her silver medal in the all-around.

Kastle Pazdzierski received the bronze medal on vault, came fourth on bars and floor and sixth on beam to find herself fourth overall. Casey Gilbank took second on vault, bronze on floor, fourth on beam and sixth on bars. She wound up fifth all-around.

It wasn't all about serious competition, though. On June 17, more than 100 athletes let their hair down to participate in the annual Ira Petal gymnastics athletes dance party.
