Whistler skiers make Miele Cup podium

The last race calendar for this season for racers at J1 (age 15 and 16) and higher was the Spring Series Miele Cup race at Panorama Mountain Resort last week. First up was the opening women's giant slalom on Apr.

The last race calendar for this season for racers at J1 (age 15 and 16) and higher was the Spring Series Miele Cup race at Panorama Mountain Resort last week.

First up was the opening women's giant slalom on Apr. 1 The top three were Tess Davies, Sarah Freeman and Jocelyn Volk.

The top J1 in the race was the Whistler Mountain Ski Club's Charley Field in sixth overall in 2:17.48. Also from the WMSC, Emma King was 17th overall and third among J1s, and Rae Swette 18th and fourth.

For the J2 racers (age 17 and 18), Sofi Leroux was 12th, Jocelyn Ramsden 15th, Celine Rytz 16th and Kailee Darlington 19th.

The second GS the next day, the top three were Kelly McBroom and Tess Davies in first and second, followed by Victoria Michalik. Charley Field moved up to fourth overall and was the top J1 by two seconds and 14 positions. Emma King was 19th, Rae Swette 23rd and Celeste Pomerantz 25th to round out the top 30.

In the opening men's GS, J2 Ford Swette placed first overall, ahead of several racers with the senior program — Tyler Werry and Sasha Zaitsoff were second and third.

From Whistler, Mike Janyk was fifth, Conrad Pridy sixth and Morgan Pridy 12th.

In J1, the WMSC's Brodie Seger was placed second. Broderick Thompson, a J2 was 25th overall.

Swette made it two in a row the next day with another win, this time followed by Tyler Werry and Chris Frank. Mike Janyk was fourth, Conrad Pridy ninth and Morgan Pridy 11th. IJN J2, Broderick Thompson was eighth as well as 21st overall.

In the first of two super G races, the top three women were Tess Davies, Victoria Michalik and Celine Ritz. Emma King was the top J1 in fourth overall, with Charley Field placing second in J1 (sixth overall), Rachel Vander Veen fourth (ninth overall). Also in the overall, Kelly Steeves was 14th, Celeste Pomerantz 19th and Rae Swette 20th. In J2, Jocelyn Ramsden was eighth overall, Sofi Leroux 12th and Kailee Darlington 22nd.

The men's race went to Benjamin Thomsen on the men's senior team, followed by Philip Brown and Tyler Werry. Morgan Pridy was ninth.

In J2, Brockerick Thompson placed third (11th overall), with teammate Ford Swette 15th and Daniel Kwong 29th.

For the J1 racers, Brodie Seger placed first (18th overall).

In the second super G, Charley Field moved up to second overall and first in J1.

"This last week has been a great end to my season," she said. "There have been many ups and downs, but I was able to pull through and have a really good season. I can't wait to start preparing for next season."

Teammate Emma King was fourth overall and second in J1. Rachel Vander Veen was sixth, Rae Swette seventh, Kelly Steeves eighth, Celeste Pomerantz ninth.

J2 skier Sofi Leroux was 13th overall, Jocelyn Ramsden 14th and Kailee Darlington 19th.

Erik Read, Jan Hudec and Philip Brown were first through third in the second men's GS, with Conrad Pridy placing fourth and Morgan Pridy sixth.

In J2, the WMSC's Ford Swette was third and Broderick Thompson fourth. Brodie Seger was the top J1 racer once again, this time placing 17th overall.
