Originally from Nice, France, mountain biker Yoann Barelli now lives in Whistler.

Local mountain biker Yoann Barelli has officially linked up with Devinci Bikes as a brand ambassador. The 38-year-old got his start as a pro enduro racer and was a French national DH champion back in the day. His creativity and love of freeride ultimately pulled him away from competition and into the realms of coaching and social media.

Barelli is known for pushing other riders to progress in their own careers and lives. He founded the Into the Gnar coaching programs and the infamous Tour de Gnar, which place participants outside their comfort zones amid the backdrop of the Sea to Sky corridor.

Off the bike, Barelli is a vocal environmentalist. He’s not afraid to pick up trash on the side of the road, and he believes in riding bikes that have a lower impact on the biosphere. As a result, the native of Nice, France will be riding Devinci mountain bikes that are made in Chicoutimi, Que. with local aluminum.

"The French saying 'joie de vivre' translates to 'the exuberant enjoyment of life.' It would be hard to find better words to describe the spirit of Yoann Barelli," said a Devinci spokesperson in a press release. "'Madman', or, simply 'crazy', could do the trick too. But behind the hype and howling laughter, there’s a passionate rider dedicated to sharing his love for the sport. Devinci is proud to welcome Yoann to the family. Bienvenue, Yo!"
