There is no risk to the public, say police.

Police are investigating a double homicide at a residence in Chilliwack.

Chilliwack RCMP responded to a report of shots being fired in the 46000-block of Chilliwack Lake Road at 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday.

When officers arrived they discovered two people who were dead and say they were located in a ‘nearby residence’.

"A suspect was identified and taken into custody at the scene,” says Cpl. Carmen Kiener.

There is no risk to the public, according to police.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has taken over the case and will be working with Chilliwack RCMP to determine what happened.

The investigation is in the evidence-gathering phase at this time and no further details are being released.

Police did not share any information about the deceased, including their age or gender.
