Hook, line, and swap: Join the fishing gear swap meet in Squamish on June 25

Event will also introduce a new local fishing store, Coop's Bait and Tackle.

If you are an angler, you likely have dusty gear stored away.

To help anglers get rid of that unused equipment, local Ben Cole is hosting a Fishing Gear Swap Meet in town on June 25 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Jumar parking lot at 38362 Buckley Ave.

Cole, who moved to Squamish from Bangkok in January of 2021, is an avid fisher who says he is motivated to conserve.

"My whole concept [is] reuse what you have already got — reuse, recycle — close that circular economy loop," he said.

Cole notes that folks who fish often spend a lot of money on gear, leaving older gear in their storage compartments or garage.

He asks Sea to Sky residents to dust it off and get a table at the event to swap it.

"Let's just have a swap meet and get it done," he said.

Soon-to-open Squamish fishing and hunting supply shop Coop's Bait and Tackle will also have a table at the event for those who want to replace their swapped gear with some new stuff.

Cole said that the shop aims to focus on environmental conservation, so is a welcome addition to the event.
