Instagram is investigating an issue that "suspended" many international users on Halloween.

An Instagram outage had more than 7,000 international users locked out of their accounts on Monday morning.

Instagram users took to Twitter with screenshots of the social media app saying "we suspended your account on October 31, 2022" and asked for email and phone numbers to get the account to work again.

Shortly after 7 a.m. on Monday, 7,962 reports of Instagram's "suspended" issue were noted on Downdetector.

The photo-sharing platform confirmed the issue on Twitter around 8:30 a.m. saying they are "looking into it" and apologizes for the inconvenience.

"We're aware that some of you are having issues accessing your Instagram account. We're looking into it and apologize for the inconvenience," said Instagram on its Twitter account.

Many people also noticed a significant drop in their follower count on the app while some even noticed a blank account, which caused panic among users.

The cause of the issue has not been announced, but many accounts are not reporting they are working again with following counts going back up.
