Major League Soccer club CF Montréal announced Monday that it has acquired goalkeeper Sebastian Breza and central defender Joaquín Sosa from Italian side Bologna FC.

Breza, who was born in Ottawa and raised in Montreal, signed a two-year deal with CF Montréal with two option years after returning to his hometown club on a permanent transfer.

The 25-year-old Breza played 31 regular-season games and posted five shutouts while on loan to Montreal in 2021 and 2022.

He helped Montreal win the 2021 Canadian Championship title and played four games in the 2022 CONCACAF Champions League.

Sosa, a 22-year-old from Uruguay, is on loan to Montreal for the 2024 MLS season.

He has played 11 games for the Serie A club, whose chairman is CF Montréal owner and president Joey Saputo.

Breza joined Bologna on August 29, 2020. He has also had stints on loan to Italian third-division side Carrarese Calcio and Yverdon Sport FC in the Swiss first division.

Internationally, he has caps with Canada's U20 and U23 teams.

Montreal also has returning starting goalkeeper Jonathan Sirois and backup Logan Ketterer on its first-team roster.

Sosa was developed by Uruguayan club Nacional and played over 50 games on loan in his home country with C.A. Rentistas in 2021 and Liverpool Montevideo in 2022.

He was acquired by Bologna in September 2022, and was loaned to Croatian top flight Dinamo Zagreb on a season-long deal in 2023.

He made 24 appearances for Uruguay at the under-17 level.
